MINCE

At MINCE (Massachusetts Institute of Culinary Experiences), MIT's premier student-run fine dining club, I serve as Design Lead orchestrating the visual identity and user experience for various culinary events. Over multiple semesters leading the design initiatives, I transformed how guests interact with food through comprehensive branding.

My work includes directing visual branding for 10+ interactive fine dining events encompassing logos, menu design, and promotional materials, fully redesigning our website to eliminate previous friction points with event lotteries and team applications, and developing scalable design frameworks that elevated MINCE's positioning as MIT's most sought-after culinary organization.

MINCE WEBSITE REDESIGN

I’m currently leading a website redesign to create a more engaging and functional platform. Through our website, we want to introduce our team, showcase past and upcoming events, share recipes from events, publish member blogs, recruit new members, collect newsletter sign-ups, and facilitate donations or contact.

Target Audience: Our primary audience is MIT students interested in attending events, joining our team, or collaborating with us.

Key Issues: After analyzing the current site and speaking with students, I’ve identified the following challenges with our current website:

  • Event information was only available post-event.

  • Important announcements, such as event lotteries and team applications, were primarily email-based and often missed by students.

  • The event lottery process was not integrated directly into the website.

  • Event details were shared on short notice, limiting student outreach.

  • Content sections (team, blogs, recipes) were not regularly maintained.

  • Layout had too much whitespace and lacked responsiveness.

  • The information architecture was repetitive.

With these issues in mind, I restructured the information architecture and built low fidelity wireframes based on the new layout.

The original navigation bar had a clean look but wasn’t fixed, which made navigation less convenient while scrolling. In the redesign, I carried forward that clean aesthetic and combined it with the footer’s playful, hand-drawn style to create a fixed bar that stays visible, preserving the site’s character while improving usability.
